The MAN B&W Diesel Group presents two new engine developments as well as the next turbocharger generation at the SMM trade fair (Vessel Machine Ocean Engineering) held in Hamburg, Hall 6, Stand 6001, from September 24 to 28. On an exhibition space of 350 square metres, the international business group proves its right to technology leadership with the title "Prime Movers".
The central exhibits at the stand are a huge piston of the K98MC two-stroke engine – the largest engine worldwide, and a product of the completely new developed TCA exhaust gas turbocharger series. The recent results of the MAN Diesel development work are shown as models:
- V 48/60B: The further development of the successful 48/60 engine is, in particular, suited for application in cruise vessels, ferries and large multi-purpose freighters.
- RK280: Both high-speed ferries and the Navy profit from this new engine.
- VP185: This high-speed engine is used in high-speed ferries and supplies, as GenSet, electric power on board vessels, etc.
In addition to contact persons responsible for marine engine sales, service personnel of MAN Diesel will also be at the stand and provide information about the worldwide assistance rendered with regard to operation, maintenance and repair of the products of the MAN Diesel Group as well as regarding spare parts and maintenance contracts.
"Appearance at the SMM offers the possibility to emphasise our leading role in international shipping" says Dr. Wolfram Lausch, Director of the MAN Diesel Marine Division. "After all the two- and four-stroke engines produced by the MAN Diesel Group and their licensees are, with a market share of approx. 50 percent, leading on the world market with regard to the propulsion of large ocean-going vessels."
