MAN B&W Diesel A/S, Alpha, Denmark has been awarded the contract to supply propulsion plants for two offshore stand-by vessel newbuildings under construction for China Oilfield Services Limited.>
The two vessels designated ‘8000 HP Oil Field Stand-by Vessels’, are to be delivered by the Chinese shipyard Shandong Huanghai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. during July and September 2004.
The owner is China Oilfield Services Limited, Beijing, China. The vessels are designed by SDARI (Shanghai Design & Research Institute), which is one of the major ship designers in Shanghai. The propulsion plant for each vessel is based on a twin-screw package with MAN B&W 9L27/38 medium-speed diesels, Reintjes gearboxes, MAN B&W CP Propellers and Control systems. A total main engine output of 8,323 BHP (6,120 kW) will supply the propeller thrust – resulting in a calculated bol-lard pull of more than 100 metric tons.
