Hudong Heavy Machinery Company has produced their first 7S80MC engine. On 11 July 2003, Hudong Heavy Machinery Company in Shanghai, China, presented their first S80MC engine to the public.
The order was placed in May 2002 by NACKS yard in Nantung, China, for two VLCCs being built for Chinese owner Sea Fortune.

Hudong has been producing MAN B&W Diesel engines since 1985, and the cooperation has been very beneficial for both parties. Hudong has built 371 MAN B&W Diesel designed engines, with a total power output currently standing at 3,286,660 kW, and the number is still growing.
