(18.02.2008) – In light of the boom in the ship construction industry over recent years, and the resulting increased need for space in harbours, MAN Diesel PrimeServ Hamburg will be leaving its present site on the Hachmannkai by 2012. With support from the City of Hamburg, MAN Diesel has sourced a four-hectare are of land on the Reiherstiegknie in Wilhelmsburg, where its new service facility can be planned to best effect. Tens of millions of euros have been set aside for this investment.
As a service point, MAN Diesel PrimeServ Hamburg is dependent on a location close to the water with suitable dock facilities. The City of Hamburg will be taking charge of the dock building on the Reiherstiegknie - a move that has played a key role in keeping the 300 jobs at MAN in Hamburg, says Dr. Tilmann Greiner, Head of MAN Diesel PrimeServ Hamburg, adding: “Our staff are extremely pleased that they now finally know where their careers will be continuing in four years' time.”
